ZAGAT Survey 2009/10

“Wonderful old-world Italian dishes” gratify guests at this family-owned Floral Park “standby” where “overflowing” antipasto and dessert carts complement the “pleasant”, “traditional” space; an “owner who circulates the rooms” and”attentive” service are part of the charm, so while it feels “old hat” and “expensive” to some, others says it’s “been around forever and it’s easy to see why.”

Critics Top 40 Restaurant of Long Island

“A veteran on the Nassau-Queens border with traditional cuisine, and sometimes a sweet-voiced table side singer who knows the standards and more. Welcoming and consistent, Chef Mimma D’Annas menu features cold antipasti, torta primavera, stuffed artichoke, spaghetti carbonara, fussili amatriciana, steak pizzaiola, veal chop Milanese, cannoli, cheesecake, and zabaglione. “

Long Island Business News

"Arturo's Ristorante, on the Nassau side of the Queens border, in Bellerose, has garnered many awards and favorable ratings from critics over the years, and in many ways it is, as the NY Times recently said in it's "very good" review, "a warm friendly, old fashioned Italian restaurant." Founded by Arturo Gismondi in 1961, the restaurant was purchased by the D'Anna's in February 1991, after Anthony worked there as maitre d'hotel and chef. The D'Anna's keep the European touches. In the comfortable bar area, Anthony might be seen pounding a serving knife into a half wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano. Chopped, the cheese is served at the bar. Start with an appetizer of seafood salad. For pasta either penne Gismondi or Parpadelle di Bosco with three wild mushrooms. For an entrée, an ossobucco, a veal shank served with risotto al borio, or the veal Arturo, a scallopine with prosciutto. For dessert, they suggest Zabaglione, ice cream and strawberries topped with a sauce of marsala wine."
